Stress Relief Comes to Riverview
New Yoga / Pilates Business opening
Riverview, FL – July 14, 2008 – Serenity Stream today announced
Relief from stress has arrived in the Riverview / Brandon / Apollo Beach area in the form of a new yoga / pilates business on Boyette Road called Serenity Stream. This new business is inviting everyone to a Grand Opening on August 16th from 9am to 3pm offering free yoga, pilates, and belly dance classes as well as a heath fair including free health screenings, nutrition advice and local vendors. A portion of proceeds from the day will go to towards the Moffitt FACTors (Fighting Against Cancer Together) non-profit organization, which celebrates life every year with their annual breast cancer survivors’ conference.
Business owner Sherry Smith opened her doors on June 2nd, welcoming all who are interested in reducing stress level, losing weight, and /or reducing pain. Clients have found relief from the stress of job and personal challenges, heavy traffic, and high gas prices through yoga / pilates classes, private yoga / pilates sessions, and Thai yoga massage.
After years of living with stress in the corporate world, Sherry found extraordinary relief in the practice of yoga. She lost weight, improved muscle tone, reduced anxiety, and stopped yelling in traffic. She knew that she had to share this wonderful gift with her co-workers and friends and now offers Yoga, Pilates, Belly Dancing classes as well as private, individual yoga, pilates, and massage sessions.
“It seems that everyone walking through the door tells me that they have a stress level of 14 on a scale of one to ten. With all of the craziness with the economy, jobs, and family pressures, more and more people are seeking ways to deal with it all,” Smith says. “We are excited to serve the community and hope that everyone will come by our Grand Opening on August 16th.” Serenity Stream will be sponsoring a health fair including free health screenings, nutrition education, cancer prevention information, free chair massages, belly dancing lessons, and pilates classes for the opening.
According to the American Heart Association and the Florida Centers for Disease Control, two of the top three causes of death in Florida are heart disease and stroke, both of which are mainly brought on by stress. Stress is also a contributing factor to high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity. Stressful situations raise heart rates and blood pressure, which all can injure the heart and the blood vessels. The Mayo Clinic calls yoga “an effective method to reduce stress” and cites increased flexibility, management of chronic health conditions, weight loss, balance, and relief in coping with cancer and Alzheimer’s as major additional benefits.
