Thom Thomas--

Everyone has their own reasons for going through a teacher training course.  I signed up, not so I could teach, but rather to learn.  Through Serenity Stream's Teacher Training course I was able to deepen my understanding of yoga.  More importantly, I was able to deepen my understanding of myself.  Along with the standard asana work, anatomy, and yoga philosophy, Serenity Stream emphasizes alot of contemplation, journaling and self-reflection.  With the help, encouragement and compassion of the wonderful teachers at Serenity Stream, I am beginning to turn my life outside-in and to explore areas of myself that stayed dormant and hidden for all the years.  I could say that this course was the most significant thing to happen in my life, but that might still be an understatement.  A friendly warning:  Serenity Stream's Teacher Training course was alot more involved than I thought.  It is not just a couple of weekends and presto- you graduate.  At Serenity Stream, the journey will be long (everlasting perhaps), but I couldn't have asked for better guides to get me started on my way.

The program is well-rounded and diverse, allowing students to develop their individual skills and teaching styles in a highly supportive environment.  The program offers a mix of individual and group experiences conducive for the unique learning styles of the particular student.  Having a mentor for the duration of the program to share ideas, concerns, and thoughts with is extremely helpful.

My experience in yoga teacher training at this mid-way point has increased  my understanding and practice of yoga.  I am learning how the poses affect the body, how they relate to yoga philosophy and its application to my own spiritual life.  I look forward to each session. The teachers and other students provide a great community for learning.  It is challenging and enriching!
